The planning notice has still not been displayed on site. Keith Bines, the planning officer, has admitted this and confirmed he should have displayed the notice at least three weeks before the consultation period finished on the 8 November! As the notice is not in place the consultation period continues for three weeks after the notice is displayed. So, if you would still like to object then please feel free. All objections help!
There are indications that the developers will be asked to provide considerable more social housing! There are almost 2600 people requiring social housing in North Devon and developments in Barnstaple will not be considered in isolation for providing them.

You may have seen from the Journal's website that Barnstaple Town Council has joined Pilton West Parish Council in unanimously voting against Devonshire Homes' proposed greenfield development in Pilton.
Councillors were concerned about the impact on traffic, infrastructure, landscape and the potential for flooding downstream in Bradiford.
However, whilst it's great that the Town Council have joined us in opposing this unwanted development, unfortunately they have no power to stop it. The District Council's Planning Committee will decide on this and it's not too late to comment. Officers have promised us that all comments received ahead of the committee considering this application will be considered.
You can comment by clicking here.
Although the Journal article said that the decision will be delegated, that's not the case - this will be considered by the committee - and although the consultation period has officially closed, comments are still being received, at least until the end of this month.

The planning application has been submitted.
The impact to Westaway Plain is the same as Trayne Farm – more congestion to our already busy roads. We believe we need to object to these plans on the same basis as Trayne Farm. As Devon Highways have already stated the A39 Junction is at capacity and will encourage traffic to “rat run” The Rock and Northfield Lane. All these roads filter down to single carriageway and cannot cope with the volume likely to materialise. In the Trayne Farm report Devon Highways state "The proposed development will result in additional delay and queuing of traffic at the already at capacity junction of Pilton Causeway which is considered a severe residual cumulative impact and is therefore contrary to paragraph 32 of the National Planning Policy Framework ". This will be relevant for the Westaway Plain planning application. Would not be a bad idea to quote Highways if you object to this proposal! If you wish to object – and every objection helps our cause – go to http://planning.northdevon.gov.uk/detail.asp? Planning reference no. 56396
